Error message "Was not able to obtain a license for Cyclone" appears when performing pointcloud import

As of January 1, 2025 users have contacted us and reported the above issue when importing pointclouds or accessing a variety of other pointcloud functions.  This issue affects Map360 2024 and 2022 hotfix.


A patch has been released that replaces two components of Map360 and resolved the issue.  The patch can be downloaded from the Helpdesk downloads page or directly from here:


Pointcloud patch

  1. Unzip the archive (but don't change the folder structure)
  2. Log in to an Administrative account (or ask IT to perform the installation)
  3. Run the executable.
  4. Check the created log file to ensure that two files were successfully copied.  Messages about missing at least some missing registry entries are normal)
