How to Create A Custom AutoMap to be Used in Evidence Recorder
1. Launch Evidence Recorder (EVR) program
2. Create a New Scene > Give Scene a name
3. Go into Scene Settings > Scene Files
4. Uncheck “Use Template” > Give your AutoMap file a name > Press continue > OK
5. You should now be able review a summary of your current project settings > Ensure your custom AutoMap file is being applied.
6. Select “Ok” to OPEN the project once you are satisfied with the settings
7. Browse into your AutoMap file by selecting the Set Description field as shown below
8. You should see NO descriptions in the file > We are now ready to add custom description codes
Select “ADD” to enter the description code you wish to use
9. You will now be prompted with a new dialog box with some options to edit the point as shown below:
a) The plotted description code used in Map 360 or the “human readable” entry in EVR. For example, if the field code is EOP this field would be “Edge of Pavement”
b) Option to change the point symbols
c) Option to change size of points
d) Option to change point color
e) Option to change line color
f) Assign a layer to the description code (This can be a NEW or EXISTING layer) using ONLY letters and numbers
g) Option to connect points with line
h) Option to assign codes to be EXCLUDED from modelling calculations
Once you have made your changes, select “OK” to add the code to the file.
10. The AutoMap library should now have the code you added into the list as shown below
11. Repeat steps 8-9 to add additional codes to the file
12. Once you are finished adding the codes > Close your project and EXIT EVR
Follow the instructions below on how to copy the custom AutoMap file to the default location
Copying the AutoMap File to Default Location
For Windows CE or Windows Mobile Users:
1. Open your File Explorer
2. Browse to: My Device\Program Files\Leica Geosystems\EvidenceRecorder\Scenes
3. Once you are in your Scenes folder > browse into the project folder where you created your custom AutoMap
Ex) Project Name I created the Automap file: custom amap
4. Browse into custom amap > COPY the .CSV (AutoMap) file
5. Paste the .CSV into: My Device\Program Files\Leica Geosystems\EvidenceRecorder\Scenes
6. You should now see your custom AutoMap File in the Scenes folder
For Windows Tablet users:
1. Open your File Explorer file explorer
2. Browse to: C:\Users\YourUserProfile\Documents\Leica Geosystems\EvidenceRecorder\Scenes
3. Once you are in the Scenes folder > browse into the project folder where you created your custom AutoMap > Copy the AutoMap (.CSV) file
Ex) Project Name I created the Automap file: custom amap
You will need to:
a) TAP to select the file
b) PRESS and HOLD on the AutoMap (.CSV) file to COPY the file
4. Paste the Automap file (.CSV) up one level into: C:\Users\LHOW\Documents\Leica Geosystems\EvidenceRecorder\Scenes
You will need to:
a) TAP to select the file
b) PRESS and HOLD on the AutoMap (.CSV) file to PASTE the file
5. You should now see your custom AutoMap File in the FG Projects folder
Follow the next set of instructions to set the AutoMap to be used as default
How to Set Custom AutoMap file to be used as Default
1. Launch Evidence Recorder (EVR)
2. Create New Scene > Name the Scene
3. Go into Scene Settings > Scene Files
4. Browse to your AutoMap file that you placed in the Scenes folder
a) For Users that have a Windows Tablet go to:
C:\Users\YourUserProfile\Documents\Leica Geosystems\EvidenceRecorder\Scenes
b) For Windows Mobile Users go to:
My Device\Program Files\Leica Geosystems\EvidenceRecorder\Scenes
5. Select the AutoMap (.CSV) file you wish to use and hit OPEN
6. You should now see your AutoMap file selected for use
Ensure that you have the “Use Template” setting toggled ON. That will set the AutoMap file to be used as default when creating new projects. Hit continue when you ready to move on
7. You should now be able review a summary of your current project settings > Ensure your custom AutoMap file is being applied.
Hit OK to continue and Open your project.
8. Once you are in your Scenes Map View > Browse into your AutoMap file by selecting the Set Description field as shown below
9. You will now be able to view all description codes in the AutoMap library
Select and highlight the Description code you would like to set as ACTIVE > Hit the GREEN check mark to continue
You have now successfully:
Created a custom AutoMap
Placed the AutoMap file in the default location
Set the AutoMap to be used as default
Each new Scene created in EvidenceRecorder will now use the custom AutoMap file created.
