Losing "Lock" after taking a shot with Leica Robotic Total Station

In this brief article we will address the issue of losing lock while in tracking mode after taking a shot.

In certain cases it has been reported that while in Tracking Mode on a Leica Total Station using MicroSurvey FieldGenius, it will lose the lock on the prism after taking a shot. We have discovered that this occurs when the EDM settings is set to "IR LONG" and not the default "IR STD". The reason this happens is because IR Long is really only meant for shooting distances greater than 4000 meters (4km). This of course is a lengthy distance and on most projects, one will never require a shot so far away, let alone have the need to "Track" the prism.
